DETAILED DAY WISE ITINERARY
Day 1 – Colombo – vibrant city
As you land in Colombo, get to your accommodation and gear-up for a wonderful city tour.
First, visit the National Museum, which has over 100,000 splendid exhibits of the country’s history and culture. Right next to the National Museum is Viharamahadevi Park where you can explore endless colorful flora. In the evening, head to Galle Face Green, a popular ocean-side urban park, and enjoy a breathtaking sunset. You cannot miss the Old Parliament Building, Independence Hall at Independence Square, Twin World Trade Center Towers, Fort District, and popular places of worship (entrance fee to be paid directly)
Also, enjoy shopping at Majestic City, Noritake, Odel, Beverly Street, etc. before you head back to your hotel.
Day 2 – Kandy
After breakfast, check out of hotel in Colombo, and embark your journey to Kandy, beautiful city on Hill. En route, you can visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, which is one of the most important attractions in Sri Lanka. This place is home to injured, orphaned, and abandoned elephants that are taken care of by the volunteers. Enjoy watching these elephants being bathed and fed, and walk up to the river to watch them get playing in the water. Later in the day, visit to Gem Museum, where the world’s finest quality gems are displayed. Find exclusive semi-precious gems and sapphires that come in different shades of red, green, and blue.
Then, get back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.
Day 3 – Kandy
On the third day, visit Dalada Maligawa, the sacred Tooth Relic Temple, which houses a Buddhist relic – the tooth of Buddha. The sacred room is kept open to the public during prayers and guests are free to join the temple’s Open Door Ceremony in the mornings. Located next to the temple is the Kiri Muhuda, an artificial lake built by Kandyan Empire’s last king. The lake’s tranquil atmosphere is ideal for a lovely walk in the evening or an enjoyable boat ride. The Perahera Festival, one of the most spectacular Sri Lankan festivals, is also best viewed from this lake.
After a fantastic day, retreat to your hotel for the night.
Day 4 – Bentota
Wake up to a beautiful morning at Kandy and savor a delicious breakfast at your hotel, before heading to Bentota, the city of golden beaches.
Check-in at your hotel and get ready to first visit Kande Vihare Temple, home to country’s tallest Buddha statue. Stop by at Sri Kalyanarama Maha Vihariya, which is notable for its marble carving of Buddha. After exploring the heritage sites, unwind at Bentota Beach while snacking on the delicacies available at the beach stalls. Later, enjoy a fascinating Madu River boat cruise amidst the unique flora and fauna of the region, and spot cormorants, egrets, water monitor lizards, etc.
Then retreat to your hotel for the night.
Day 5 – Bentota
On day five, have a delicious breakfast at your hotel and enjoy a leisurely time at Bentota. Get around the city by yourself or simply relax in your room all day. Then, get a good night’s rest to prepare yourself for the next day.
Day 6 – Departure ( After Breakfast)
On the last day of your trip, check out from your hotel and head to the airport for your journey back home.
