Detailed Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1 – From Colombo to Kandy and City Tour of Kandy
Arrive in the city of Colombo and drive to Kandy. Check in at your hotel in Kandy and head to Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a nursery and breeding ground of Asian elephants. This elephant nursery boasts of having the largest captive herd of elephants, amounting to a total of 88 elephants. Later, visit Temple of the Tooth, which houses the relic tooth of Buddha. Then, head to Kandy Lake, a beautiful artificial lake. Fishing is banned in this lake. Watch the Cultural Show of Sri Lanka, a spontaneous folklore dance performance that showcases the tradition and culture that has prevailed through the yesteryears. At the end of the show, you can witness the spectacle of walking on fire. After the Cultural Show, you can visit the Gems factory. Then, enjoy your dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.
Day 2 – From Kandy to Nuwara Eliya and City Tour of Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy a wholesome breakfast and drive to Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya is a city rooted on the hills of Central Sri Lanka. Known as the City of Lights, this city offers sublime views of the meadows and valleys surrounded by verdant gardens. The old brick houses, 18-hole golf courses and the typical lifestyle of the region evoke the nostalgia of the colonial British Ceylon. When you are in Nuwara Eliya, visit Ramboda, Seetha Amman Temple, Tea Factory and the Tea Plantations. Return to your hotel, enjoy the dinner and stay overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 3 – From Nuwara Eliya to Colombo and City Tour of Colombo
Relish a delectable breakfast and check out from the Nuwara Eliya hotel. Head to Colombo, which is at 165 km from Nuwara Eliya. After the 4 to 5 hours of journey, check in at your hotel in Colombo, enjoy the dinner and retire for the day.
Day 4 – Colombo City Tour
Savour a delightful breakfast and head out to explore the city of Colombo. Visit some popular spots, which include Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Sri Lanka’s Parliament Building, Panchamuga Hanuman Temple and the Pettah Bazaar. Do not forget to buy some excellent souvenirs and gift items from Pettah Bazaar. It is one of the busiest commercial open-markets in Sri Lanka. Also, pay a visit to Old Colombo Lighthouse, which still functions as a clock tower. Post dinner, return to your hotel.
Day 5 – Leisure Day and Drop
Post breakfast, go exploring the local area and street markets on your own. Shop around the locality and pick up souvenirs as tokens of remembrance or spend the day relaxing. Later, drop in at the airport and return home with some beautiful memories.
